Drunken tiger fighting style

Perhaps nothing more than an exercise in PR hacks patting themselves on the backs (I personally take everything Charlie says with a grain of salt), this report just published from the Brewers Association begs the question: When was the last time you or anyone you knew bought any beers by either Widmer or Pyramid? This year's "tiger report" seems to point out an embarrassing truism; whereas the megabrewers succeed by mass-producing flavorless lawnmower lagers, the top craft brewers succeed by mass-producing flavorless lawnmower hefeweizens. Maybe it's a sign of change that New Belgium has climbed the ranks as they have, but let's just hope that they stick to their wonderfully broad palette, and don't get into the act of pandering to the masses themselves...
